On
December 6, 2020, the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies hosted a symposium
on Eurasia Cooperation that attended by participants both physically and
virtually. Dr. Qiang Xiaoyun, Director of Center for Center for Russian &
Central Asia Studies of SIIS moderated the opening ceremony in which President
Chen Dongxiao of SIIS delivered welcoming remarks, Mr. Ji Shumin, Deputy Director-General
of the Department of European-Central Asian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs of China, and Mr. Zhang Dong, Deputy Director-General of the Department
of European-Central Asian Affairs, Ministry of Commerce of China delivered
keynote speeches.

Science and Regional Studies, Scientific Committee of the Ministry of Education
and Science of Kazakhstan, Dr. Valery Garbuzov, Director of Institute for U.S.
and Canadian Studies, Russian Academy of Science, Dr. Muratbek Imanaliev, Director
of Center of Foreign
Policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Kyrgyz Republic , former SCO
Secretary-General and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, and
Prof. Oleg Ivanov, Vice-Rector for Research of the Diplomatic Academy of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, as well as scholars from China Institutes
of Contemporary International Relations, Center of Shanghai Cooperation
Organization Studies, Peking University, China Academy of Social Sciences, Lanzhou
University, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Shanghai
International Studies University, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences
participated in the symposium and made presentations on “Development and
Cooperation in Eurasia Region Amid the Pandemic”, “The Eurasia Situation after
the U.S. Election”, and “The Eurasia Situation Amid the Pandemic and the
Influence of Major Powers”. Members of the Center for Russian & Central
Asia Studies of SIIS, including Dr. Zhao Long, Dr. Feng Shuai, Dr. Wang Yuzhu,
Dr. Cao Jiahan attended the symposium.
