On April 20, 2020, a video conference on International Cooperation on Pandemic Control and China-US Relations was held at Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. This conference was chaired by Professor Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Affairs Council, and participated by SIIS President Chen Dongxiao and Dr.Zhang Haibing, Director of Institute for Global Governance Studies. American participant included Prof. Kenneth Lieberthal, senior fellow emeritus in Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution，former Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and Senior Director for Asia on the U.S. National Security Council; David Dollar, senior fellow in the John L. Thornton China Center at the Brookings Institution,former representative of the U.S. Treasury's economic and financial emissary to China.The two sides had a candid and in-depth discussion on global economic, China-US relations.Both sides believed that China and US should have historical responsibility, safeguard Sino-US relations and promote international cooperation against COVID-19.
