SIIS Holds the 3rd Video Conference on International Cooperation on Pandemic Control and China-US Relations

On April 15, 2020, a video conference on International Cooperation on Pandemic Control and China-US Relations was held at Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. This conference was chaired by Professor Yang Jiemian, Chairman of SIIS Academic Affairs Council, and participated by SIIS President Chen Dongxiao and Dr. Wu Chunsi, director of the Institute for International Strategic Studies. American participants included Professor Susan Shirk, Chair of the 21st Century China Center and Research Professor at the School of Global Policy and Strategy at the University of California, San Diego, Professor Thomas Fingar, Shorenstein APARC Fellow in the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University and Professor Karl Eikenberry, former US ambassador to Afghanistan. The two sides had a candid and in-depth discussion on China-US relations, stressing on the importance to the intertwined impact of traditional and non-traditional security under the current situation, reduce miscalculation, explore the framework of regional security cooperation, and stablize China-US relations.
