On December 9, 2019, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies held the Launching Ceremony of Governing Complex Systems: Social Capital for the Anthropocene and Seminar on New Agenda & New Challenges of Global Governance.
The ceremony was moderated by President Chen Dongxiao of SIIS. Professor Oran Young of University of California, Santa Barbara, who is the author of Governing Complex Systems: Social Capital for the Anthropocene donated two original copies of his book to the library of SIIS and gives a steering lecture. Vice President of SIIS, Professor Yang Jian, Professor Sun Kai of Ocean University of China, who are translators of this book, and Ms. Pan Danrong, representative of Shanghai People’s Publishing House delivered remarks at the ceremony.
After the ceremony, scholars from Ocean University of China, China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai Ocean University, Polar Research Institute of China, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, New York University, and University of Pennsylvania had a discussion on the new agenda and new challenges of global governance and the influence of new technologies.
