On June 5, 2019, former director of the Norwegian Polar Institute Mr. Jan-Gunnar Winther visited SIIS gave a speech on the sustainable development and multilateral cooperation in the Arctic. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Yang Jian, vice president of SIIS and joined by SIIS research fellows including Prof. Zhang Yao, Dr. Zhang Pei from the Center for Polar and Maritime studies, Prof. Yu Hongyuan from the Institute for Comparative Politics and Public Policy studies, Prof. Ye Jiang from the Center for European Studies etc.
